Smitten with Kittens: Meet Oreo and Cookie
It started with a conversation about loss—and ended with two tiny, stretchy-legged kittens flying across state lines.
After Virginia passed away, I was talking to a friend—just processing everything. As we chatted, she mentioned something unexpected: she was helping foster two kittens that had been abandoned by renters who left in the middle of the night.
They had already named them Oreo and Cookie.
She asked if I might want them. But when I found out they were in another state, I gently declined. It didn’t feel possible.
Some time passed, and she reached out again. They were trying to get the kittens adopted, but had to separate them to do so. She had just dropped Cookie off at a local cat café and was heartbroken.
Then she made a generous offer: “I’ll bring them to you!”
I said yes.
They got Cookie back from the café, reunited the sisters, and made the arrangements. Oreo and Cookie arrived in Colorado—and immediately started exploring every corner of their new home (and walking across every part of my workspace).
It was my first time raising kittens. I’ve always had older cats, so this was a whole new experience. They were curious, fast, affectionate—and, as my friend had said from the beginning, they are pure joy.
Oreo is the silly one. She stretches her legs out in dramatic fashion, naps in strange positions, and seems to approach life with a little extra flair. Cookie is more grounded—observant, sweet, and thoughtful. They balance each other beautifully.
Together, they’ve brought new energy, new ideas, and a lot more mischief to Clowder Creative.
Thanks for reading about the newest members of the clowder. Oreo and Cookie arrived at just the right time—and they’ve filled the studio with life, love, and inspiration ever since.
